As a mom who holds a master’s in Forensic Psychology, worked in law enforcement intelligence, & started a mental health nonprofit that serves survivors of human tr*fficking as young as 2 (Humansave), I share a lot about how I *pr3dator proof* my preteen & kindergartener, especially on Threads.
But most importantly, I’m on a mission to connect the dots between child safety and generational healing.
How are they related?
Healing brings us back to the present.
Our presence allows us to connect more deeply.
This is the type of presence that helps our kids feel belongingness, that helps us notice when something is off, and that builds the kind of trust that makes them feel safe to come to us.
Because in the 9 years that I’ve worked in this field, plus a decade more working with “at-risk” and justice-involved youth, I’ve noticed that the most vulnerable kids (& adults!) are those who are starved for belongingness, and who don’t have a single safe person to tell who would believe them AND protect them.
So if you’ve ever wondered if the blood, sweat, and tears are worth it…they absolutely are.
Every effort you put into becoming a safe person for yourself and others is simultaneously building your kids’ armor against the world.
(If this is on your Bingo card but you don’t know where to start, I made a guided journal just for cycle-breaking parents. It will help you explore the patterns you’ve inherited, release what no longer serves you, and build a new legacy for yourself and future generations.)
